November Update

I ended the last blog post with some of the bad luck Brandon had experienced lately and finished the post with "......what's next?" Well, how about a BROKEN WRIST?!? Shortly after that post, our dear Brandon tried to master an 8 foot slide and failed. He learned that it's not smart to try to go from butt first to head first while you are sliding. Poor kid had to wear that blue (his favorite color) cast for 3 weeks but he handled it like a champ and didn't injure any of us in the process. We did however adopt a new rule for our family.....whoever is with him when he gets hurt has to take him to the doctor. Here he is with Beth at the Del Mar Pumpkin Patch.
Little Sierra is turning out to be the coolest, most chill baby EVER. Her favorite hobby is "smiling" and she's already started to sit up on her own. She now just enjoys sitting on the ground watching her crazy brother run into things. I know I've probably just jinxed ourselves but it's becoming very evident that Brandon takes after Beth and Sierra takes after me....Drama vs. Coolest EVER.
Halloween was a great event, Brandon rejected the new "Woody" costume from Toy Story that Beth bought because he preferred to be the Lion from last year. Well, it barely fit him and after he refused to wear the headwear, he basically went trick or treating looking like a little hairy kid with a tail. Sierra was Bat Girl and the candy didn't last long in this house.
This is probably my favorite picture to date. Nothing to really say here, other than "Wow.....we make good babies."
This picture is an example of what Beth likes to call "Quality Family Time." In all honesty, it's just like any other Kimball Sunday....only with more company on the couch....and I wouldn't change anything for the world. Hope to send another update soon.

September Update

Hello everyone! Our goal was to keep up with this blog every month, but I'll be honest....it's impossible. We have a lot to update you all on, so I'm going to go into super fast update mode: Try to keep up!
In July, we spent a whole week on the shores of North Lake Tahoe with the whole Watkins' clan and boy did we have a great time. Not only did Brandon and Sierra get to reunite with their favorite cousins Wade and Nora, but their daddy managed to shoot his highest scores in golf EVER! Stupid pine trees! Saying goodbye to Wes and the family was heart wrenching but I truly feel like we bonded more in that week than ever before. Looking forward to the future and their new baby next year.
Yeah, baby Sierra has grown up quite a bit in the last 3 months.....here a list of things she's started to do: sleeping through the night (hopefully not jinxing ourselves....), eating stage 1 solid foods, playing in her exersaucer, rolling over, drooling, smiling more than we could have ever imagined, and did I mention sleeping through the night? Everyday I'm realizing how much trouble this girl is going to bring me in the future.
Brandon has adjusted amazingly to having a new sister and everyday he wakes up asking "where's baby?". He constantly kisses her and now our favorite thing is watching him make her laugh during dinner. Someday we'll get a video of it because it's really priceless. He's also doing a great job of helping us take care of her....because there are times when we don't hear her crying, but he'll come into the room to tell us "babies crying momma!". Can't wait to see him to protect her in the future.
Yes, he's still a blonde haired part Asian kid....and yes, people ask me if I'm babysitting when I'm out with my son!..but I love it. In August we were honored when my cousin Cathy and her husband Caleb asked us if we would let Brandon be there ring bearer in their wedding. They supplied this custom "Hanbok" for him to wear, and he cried the whole time he walked down the aisle (just like I warned them!)...but their wedding was amazing and we were so proud of our little "toe-head" son!
This picture sums up our sentiments about baby Sierra....serious trouble coming! Other updates are as follows: Brandon can now ride a tricycle down our whole street and back, he managed to climb something he shouldn't have in the garage and smashed his face on the concrete....he now looks like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber (yes, I'm referring to his cracked front tooth!). He's mastered Angry Birds, tried to buy a $99 dollar app on my iPhone, and blessed us with his first case of Strep Throat......what's next?!

Talk to all soon!

June 2011 Update

Whirlwind! That's the word I'd use to summarize the last month or so in the Kimball Family. If you're keeping score at home, we now have a 2 year old son and a 1 month old baby girl. Since our last update we had a sweet 2yr birthday for Brandon at the Welk Resort and our little Sierra turned 1 month old!
Oh the joys of the "infant stage"!!! We used to enjoy sleep.....but when she makes a face like that, who can get mad? We are all making the necessary adjustments and I think we are starting to get into a little groove. How Beth handles both kids alone during the week is beyond me.
Greatest Birthday gift ever!!! Radio Flyer with a ramp....it is now official that Brandon is a modern version of Bam Bam. We're starting to put bets on when our first trip to the ER will be for this kid. He's growing so much everyday and his love for his baby sister is heart warming.
Here's a sweet picture of Brandon and Beth at his 2 year birthday. Yes...his hair is STILL Blonde.

Sierra Belle is Born!

Hello everyone! We've had quite the week. For those that don't know yet, i'll give the short short version. We were scheduled for an induction on Tuesday night (May 17th), and after 24 hours of tough laboring, we were faced with a tough decision....risk having a natural birth or an emergency C-section. After seeing the babies heart rate drop with every contraction, we decided to do what was best. Sierra Belle Kimball was born at 9:05pm on Wednesday May 18th, weighing in at a whopping 7lbs 10oz and measuring 21 inches. Witnessing a C-section has changed my life in so many ways....(i've seen my wife's insides....literally). We stayed in the hospital for 3 nights to give Beth more time to heal and to give us a little bit of sleep before we headed home. The next hurdle to consider was introducing Brandon to his new little sister. He's only 23 months, so we weren't sure how he'd handle the addition.
As you can see...he's very curious about Sierra and I think he's already a tad bit protective. He gets mad at us when we try to tickle her feet! He's learning to be gentle with her and we're sure he's going to be a great big brother...for now. He can't say "Sierra" yet, but he says "night night baby" every night before bed.
This picture was taken to dispel any rumors or thoughts floating around after hearing our daughter's name....it's just a coincidence that my favorite beer happens to be Sierra Nevada. The name really originated from Beth's hometown and one of our favorite vacation destinations....Mammoth (which happen to be IN the Sierra's). The name "Belle" is a family name on Beth's mom side....but I am looking forward to day when I ask Sierra to bring me a Sierra. That's just cool!
The day we left the hospital was the same day Beth's brother (Wes, wife Rachel, son Wade and Daughter Nora) and sister Amy flew in for some family time. Add that to Elaine and my whole family Dale, Cha, and Nicole who already live close.....in short, we've been VERY BUSY. I think having this much family around is making the transition for all of us a lot easier. The picture above shows Lita with all her grandkids. I'm hiding behind the chair holding Brandon which forced that beautiful look on his face.
Here's Sierra being held above some pretty blue flowers.....we think it's cute, but I doubt we'll win any awards just yet. All in all, we are doing fairly well with the new addition. My infant skills have come back like riding a bicycle and Beth is sharing her time well between both kids. I'm excited for the day when Sierra and Brandon can run around the backyard together and play....but for now I'll cherish the "floppy" infant stage for as long as I can. I'm on paternity leave for a couple more weeks and will thoroughly enjoy spending time with the whole family. Ah....how nice it is to be blogging again! Take care everyone.

We're BAAAAACK!!!

Hello Everyone!

Yes, it has been over a year since we actually updated this blog and yes, we know how lame that is. We apologize! We were busy chasing our precious boy, who's now 22 months old, all over this city and did I mention we have a daughter on the way?! Yeah, I'm sure everyone knows this by now....and my real reason for this post is to make sure it still works. Check! Beth is due in less than a month so the countdown has begun. Stay tuned for more pics of Brandon and "whatever we name" baby girl. Hope all is well. Love you all.
